The journey towards holistic wellbeing is dynamic, creative and ever-changing.  There are various tools and therapies I use to bring insight, depth and authenticity to the issues you would like to attend to. Psychotherapy, art therapy and meditation are the main instruments I use in holistic counselling and healing.

Psychotherapy, Counselling and Holistic Healing

There are many means that can be employed to dive deeper into your healing journey–tools that assist with facing what needs to be faced, and tools that assist with letting go of what needs to be let go.  These tools may encompass bodywork, dreamwork, inner journeys, gestalt therapy, embodied listening practices, trauma release exercises, aura/energy work, body-breath integration, transpersonal psychology, yoga, contemplation and meditation.

Meditation, Contemplation and Self-Inquiry

Meditation is the ultimate practice of yoga.  Yoga includes a long history of self-inquiry and contemplation as tools for self-knowledge which leads to enlightenment.  At the very least, meditation and contemplation will increase insight, clarity, equanimity and awareness.  Meditation is the key to glimpses of your true nature, and over time, those glimpses become longer experiences until you are living as your enlightened self.

Art Therapy – Expression Without Words

Art therapy is a deeply transformative, healing and gentle way of addressing issues without necessarily having the requirement to talk or tell a story.  This process is very valuable when dealing with situations that may be traumatic to revisit.  It is also useful in bringing awareness to issues, situations or people that you need clarity about but don’t know where to start.

There are many ways of working with images, patterns or marks to bring an understanding to the conscious self about what is going on at a deeper level.

Bringing in art therapy to a counselling session can assist with integrating the many aspects of your being.  It can be a useful tool for home practice between sessions.

You don’t have to know anything about art or creativity to benefit!

You don’t have to know how to draw, in fact the process is not about “making art”–it is simply about expressing yourself in a new way to increase awareness, understanding and clarity which can then result in deeper insights and integration of all aspects of your being.
